We got an apartment

Yay! We have an apartment! I think we had 8 viewing appointments/open houses, and we submitted 3 applications in a little more than a week. Choice #1 we never heard back from, choice #3 was the first to accept us, and choice #2 drug it out long enough that we started to move forward with a lease for #3 and at the last minute #2 came in and accepted us. So we have to pay a cancellation fee of 250 CHF, but we got a really nice place.

Our place has 2 bedrooms, 1 bath and 1 half bath. It is 88 m², which is about 950 sq ft. The building has recently been redone inside and out, so everything is fresh and new. It’s got a really wide hallway, which is unusual (at least for the few properties that we visited).

It’s located really close to Cass’s office, even though he doesn’t expect to go into the office on a regular basis anytime soon. We don’t know a whole lot about the area, except it’s got to be quieter than where we are right now. It’s very residential, so there aren’t a ton of restaurants and shops, but that’s OK. There are grocery stores nearby and most places deliver. There’s a PubliBike location directly across the street, which is very convenient.

We’ve already gotten some air mattresses to sleep on until we can get the furniture situation sorted out. The only piece of furniture we’ve ordered so far is a sofa. I’m surprised I’m not more stressed about it, but I’m not! We move in mid-July.
